永新小鼓起源于清朝乾隆年间，是流传于永新民间的曲艺，于2014年入选第四批国家级非物质文化遗产名录。永新小鼓表演者腰系牛皮小鼓，一边说唱、一边敲打腰鼓。“永新小鼓分平腔、高腔两种唱腔，用永新方音唱出七字句式的唱词，夹杂乡间俗语，再以小鼓、竹板、二胡、三弦、琵琶等乐器伴奏，鼓声与音乐协同演绎、说唱与方言完美融合。”永新县文化和旅游发展中心返聘非遗专干吴谷介绍。
